Councillor Jeff Whitton

Name – Jeff Whitton

Age – 47

Married – 26 years, Dale Whitton

Children – Anna, 20 years & Joshua, 11years.

Time in Orange – 1969 to present.

Occupation – Company Director

Current Positions – Orange City Councillor, President Orange Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman OCTEC Incorporated, Vice Chairman Business Enterprise Centre, Board Member Central West Regional Development Board.

Certifications – Fellow Australian Institute of Company Directors, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Certified Novell Engineer.

Currently, I am the Managing Director – CEO of the KNet Group of Companies located in Orange, Dubbo, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Dale and I live just outside Orange in beautiful rural environment next to Dale’s family farm. We both help Dale’s mum since the passing of her dad to look after her reasonable size herd and this is my time to relax doing farm work, fencing, cutting wood and doing the cows with the family, my time away from the business and the world.

This year I joined fellow father’s of Joshua’s under 11 soccer team to play in the over 35′s competition playing with the Canobolas Rangers. It has been 30 plus years since I played soccer in a competitive sense and I have enjoyed it immensely to date we have only lost one game and are the minor premiers, but now comes the finals.

Personally, I love to read especially books based on ancient history and on religions. I have been a lifelong supporter of the South Sydney Rabbits and I enjoy a good game of cards. I like to play golf (no good) and I enjoy the coast and warmer climates (funny that and I live in Orange). Josh and I have discovered fishing as shared pass time (Ocean we know there are fish). Most of all, I like the quite times with Dale, Anna and Josh and with my mum and dad (Ida & Les) and Dale’s mum (Alice) and with my sister Joanne and brother Mark and their families.

I am especially passionate about my businesses because it gives me great pleasure, trying new ideas meeting people and learning from them or helping them with my experience. Hence, I have the same passion in the role of being an Orange City Councillor. Being a Councillor allows me to listen to the people of Orange and to have a say on behalf of the people of Orange in the future direction of our beautiful City for the people today and for our children for tomorrow.

Well, that is a little about me.

IF ELECTED TO ORANGE CITY COUNCIL ON SEPTEMBER 13th

MY PRIORITIES WILL BE TO -

  • Secure Orange’s Water Supply by supporting the raising of the Suma Park Dam wall.

  • Make decisions based on commonsense principals.

  • Fight to protect our Heritage buildings.
  • Always listen to the community; I have learnt from many years experience that you cannot go wrong if you listen to the people.
  • Supporting Business and Industry ensuring future development and growth that underpins employment for the residents of Orange.

I commit to the people of Orange that I will always put their interests first. I have always acted with complete honesty during my time on Council and I will continue to fight for what I believe is right for people of Orange. I believe that all councillors should act as individuals, but work as a team in providing successful outcomes for the people of Orange. I believe that a good Mayor leads by example and is able to work with all councillors regardless of the outcomes to each debate.

After reading you snap shot, I believe that you have too many other interests, conflicting ones, to be able to fully and ethically represent the people of Orange. Sorry Jeff but you will not be getting my vote.
