Councillor Sam Romano

I am married with 5 children and 4 grandchildren and have

5 years ago my family and I decided to make Orange our home, where we now have a small orchard.

I am a qualified Electrical Fitter Mechanic and had an Electrical Contracting Company in Sydney for 21 years. In 1996 I purchased a broad acre farm near Condobolin where I grew wheat , barley and bred cattle and sheep.

My interests are diverse and include:

Rugby Union  :  Tennis  :  Rugby league  :  Camping  :  Soccer

Talking to people  :  Swimming  :  Boxing

PRIORITIES

Whilst I support the current plans of  Orange City Council for Water Harvesting, reopening of Bores and the limited extraction of water from Lake Canobolas, I believe for the future growth of Orange and long  term guarantee of our water supply, Orange City Council and State Government must urgently investigate a future major water storage facility.

Being a ratepayer I am aware that council rates are an increasing burden to many households especially low income families and I will do my best to keep rates as affordable as possible whilst supporting continued growth of our great city.

Orange is a great and wonderful place to live, however I feel that as a city we can make it even better. As well as serving our own residents, the diverse retail sectors, business opportunities, medical and cultural facilities attract many others from outside the city boundaries.  Orange needs continued infrastructure to support our growing population. Our new hospital is a welcome if not overdue addition to our city.

Understanding that escalating costs can put additional financial burden on some of our elderly residents and I will support the Reinstatement of the Pensioner Rate rebate

If elected to serve you as a councillor of Orange, I will not make any promises that I do not intend to keep . The only promise I can make is to be honest and do my best to serve all the people of our great city.
